State Champs 2010! The boys beat #1 ranked Skutt in 3-1 in the first championship game and then finished off the Skyhawks in the second game, 6-0. The Cougars are the first team in state history to lose their first state tourney game in the double elimination tournament, and then go on win it all. The Cougars also won state in 2009, 1974, 1973, 1972 & 1971. The tradition of excellence continues!
Eleven future Division I college baseball players have walked the halls of GHS since 1987.
Not many other programs can match Gross Catholic's output of Division I athletes. Head coach Mike Filipowicz attributes several factors to this. He says, "The expectations from year to year in our program have always remained the same. We will not be out-hustled, out-enthused, or outworked by any competition we play. I have not and never will place a goal or expectation like a state championship as the ultimate goal. I have felt that because of this philosophy our program has been successful consistently throughout my tenure."
