The 2011 Cougar Golf Classic tournament chairmen Tim Burke, Matt Burke ’02 and Pat Burke ’04 welcomed 130 alumni, parents, past parents, faculty, and corporate sponsors to Platteview Country Club in Bellevue on September 26, 2011. The afternoon began with a golfers’ lunch sponsored by SAC Federal Credit Union. The players then proceeded to their shotgun start, participating in various special hole events such as “Spin the Wheel,” “Drive the Green,” and the Hole-In-One. The day ended with dinner sponsored by HDR and an awards presentation.
The tournament raised over $30,000 for Cougar Athletics and Activities programs.
The team of Lee Fate, Don Sullivan and Pat Ackerman were the winners of first place in first flight of the tournament. Tim Burke, Matt Burke ’02, Pat Burke ’04 and Frank Madrigal placed second in the first flight. The second flight first place finishers were Denny Hess, Tom Sterba, Scot Adams and Terry Ficenec. Second place in the second flight went to the foursome of Tom Van Haute ’79, Jim Van Haute ’88, Julien Van Haute and Larry Humlicek. Golfers also walked away with raffle prizes sponsored by the Burke Family, Don VanMoorleghem, Sullivan’s Steakhouse, Bay Hills Golf Course, the Koenig Family & DC Electric and Platteview Country Club. Golfers also received door prizes from over 60 underwriting sponsors.
