The Dux Esto Program

A Program of Apostolic Outreach in the Marianist Spirit

Committed to developing Christian leaders in the Marianist tradition, Daniel J. Gross Catholic High School provides a program of apostolic outreach that seeks to educate all students for service, justice and peace through the offering of their time, talent and treasure in service of God and their neighbor.

Each Gross Catholic student will offer service to their parish, the wider Church, the Gross Catholic community, and the local community.

• Required Hours
• 20 hours of charitable service freshmen year
• 25 hours of charitable service sophomore year
• 30 hours of charitable service during junior year (the junior service retreat will count for 5 hours)
• 35 hours of charitable service during senior year
  (the senior Social Justice practicum will count for 10 hours)
• Additional Requirements
• All charitable service and verification sheets for the current academic year will be completed on or before the Monday after Celebration of the current school year.
• Someone other than a parent of the student is to act as the adult supervisor for charitable service. Neither parent can sign the verification sheet as “adult supervisor” for the charitable activity.
• If any underclassman fails to meet the expectations of this program, credits for the current theology class will be withheld until all expectations of the program are fulfilled to the satisfaction of the program director.
• If any student fails to meet the expectations of this program during their senior year, they will not receive their diploma and transcripts will not be released.
