Learn more about Gross Catholic's athletic and extra-curricular activities through our summer camps. These camps are designed to provide fun activities and enrichment learning for elementary school-aged children. Here's what we've got planned for you this summer!
The registration fee for each camp is $50 (the combination girls basketball & soccer camp is $90). Fee includes instruction, t-shirt, and awards. Pre-registration is required 10 days prior to the camp. Some camps have limited enrollment, so sign up early!

Girls Basketball - May 29 - June 1 | Girls Grades 1-9 | 8:00 am – 10:30 am
This girls basketball camp is to develop basketball fundamentals. Individual and group instruction will be given in these areas: shooting , passing , dribbling, rebounding, one-on-one moves, and footwork. Awards will be given for Free Throw Champ, Hustle Awards, One-on-One Champ, and Outstanding Defensive Player. Gross Catholic basketball coaches, local college players, and special speakers from area schools will conduct the camp. **See discount for attending both girls basketball and soccer camps.
Boys Basketball - June 4 - 7 | Boys Grades 4 - 9 | 9:00 am - Noon

Boys Li'l Cougars Basketball - June 4 – 7 | Boys Grades K - 3 | 12:30 – 2:30 pm
The purpose of Li'l Cougars basketball camp is to develop basketball fundamentals. Individual and group instruction will be given in these areas: shooting , passing , dribbling, rebounding, one-on-one moves, and footwork. Awards will be given for Free Throw Champ, Hustle Awards, One-on-one Champ, and Outstanding Defensive Player. Gross Catholic basketball coaches, local college players, and special speakers from area schools will conduct the camp.
Soccer – May 29 – June 1 | Boys and Girls Grades 1 - 9 | 10:45 am – 12:15 pm
This clinic will cover the basic skills that players need to be successful. The topics of passing, dribbling, receiving, and shooting will be covered in a dynamic format that is proven to help each player progress. Participants should wear shorts, t-shirt, proper footwear and shin guards and they should bring their own water jug. Size 5 balls will be provided, but campers should bring their own smaller ball, if necessary. The camp coaching staff consists of Coach Jim Homan (US Soccer "A" License), Coach Kim Matzen, Coach Maggie Monzingo, as well as current and former Gross Catholic Soccer Players. **See discount for attending both girls basketball and soccer camps.
Combination Girls Basketball & Soccer - May 29 - June 1 | Girls Grades 1 - 9 | 8:00 am – 12:15 pm
Girls can attend both basketball and soccer camp on the same day. Basketball camp will be held from 8:00 am – 10:30 am. Soccer camp will be held from 10:45 am – 12:15 pm. The cost to attend both camps is discounted to $90.
Literary Enrichment – June 4 – 7 | Boys & Girls Grades 5 – 9 | 1:30 – 3:00 pm
This literary enrichment summer camp is designed by the Gross Catholic High School librarian to strengthen students’ achievement in reading, thinking, and communication in a fun, relaxed environment. The curriculum is based off of the Great Books Foundation which incorporates reading, writing, and discussion activities using the shared inquiry method. Special attention is given to activities that meet and surpass the goals of the Nebraska K-12 Reading/Writing Standards. Enrollment is limited.
Girls Softball – June 5 - 7 | Girls Grades 4 - 9 | 9 am - Noon
The camp is to development softball fundamentals with an emphasis on throwing, batting, running, and strategy. Each girl will be responsible for supplying her own bat and glove. Coaches and players from the Gross Catholic softball team will conduct the clinic along with college softball players. This camp will be at St. Bernadette / Gross Softball Field on 42nd & Margo Streets.
Volleyball Fundamentals - June 6 & 7 | Girls Grades 5 - 9 | 5:00 – 8:00 pm
This camp will focus on volleyball fundamentals with an emphasis on ball control in passing, serving, hitting, and setting. Competition drills will be included as well as team competition. Girls will be grouped according to skill level. Gross Catholic volleyball coaches and players will conduct the camp, and awards will be given to those individuals excelling in various skills. Enrollment is limited.
Baseball - June 11 & 12 | Boys Grades 4 - 9 | 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
This FULL-day baseball clinic will cover all aspects of the game including catching, hitting, pitching, and defense. Participants should bring their own glove and bat. There will be a lunch break; campers should bring a sack lunch – drinks will be provided. Gross Catholic baseball coaches and local college players as well as Gross Catholic players will conduct this camp.
Volleyball Advanced - June 11 & 12 | Girls Grades 8 - 12 | 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
This camp will focus on advanced skills, emphasizing on team defenses, team offenses and ball control. Competition drills will be included as well as team competition. Girls will be grouped according to skill level. This will be a high level camp, therefore, we recommend that only girls who have played at the club volleyball level or can compete at a high level attend. Gross Catholic volleyball coaches and players will conduct the camp, and awards will be given to those individuals excelling in various skills. Enrollment is limited.
Pottery for Grades 4 - 6 - June 13 – 15 | Boys & Girls Grades 4 - 6 | 10:00 am - Noon
This camp is clay everyday!! Campers will create slap pots, coil pots, wheel pots and sculptures. Campers need to wear clothing they can get dirty and to bring a large box or laundry basket to hold their projects. Most projects will be picked up the following week. This camp is limited to 25 campers per class and will be held in the Gross Catholic art studio.

Football - June 14 & 15 | Boys Grades 3 - 8 | 8:00 am - Noon
This football camp will cover all aspects of the game including fundamentals by offensive and defensive positions. Fundamentals taught will include the mechanics of throwing and catching a football, footwork technique used in line play and much, much more. Participants will also be instructed in proper stretching techniques and correct running form as well as being tested in a 40-yd dash, vertical jump and agility run.
Sports Conditioning – June 19, 21, 26 & 28 | Boys & Girls Grades 7 & 8 | 7:00 – 8:00 pm
Students will be instructed in strength, agility, speed, nutrition, and functional movement training to improve athletic performance. Students may sign up for one session or both, but enrollment is limited. This camp will meet in the weight room. The entrance is the lower door south of the commons entrance (next to the garage doors).
Wrestling Novice - June 19 - 21 | Boys Grades 1 - 12 | 9:45 – 11:30 am
This camp is designed for novice wrestlers with 1 – 3 years wrestling experience and will focus on fundamentals in all areas of wrestling. Each session will consist of instruction, drilling, and live wrestling. Participants should wear wrestling shoes or non-street tennis shoes, t-shirts and shorts without pockets; participants should also bring running shoes. Gross Catholic wrestling coaches and former high school and college wrestlers will provide instruction at this camp.
Wrestling Advanced - June 19 - 21 | Boys Grades 1 - 12 | 11:45 am – 1:30 pm
This camp is designed for advanced wrestlers with 4+ years wrestling experience and will focus on fundamentals in all areas of wrestling. Each session will consist of instruction, drilling, and live wrestling. Participants should wear wrestling shoes or non-street tennis shoes, t-shirts and shorts without pockets; participants should also bring running shoes. Gross Catholic wrestling coaches and former high school and college wrestlers will provide instruction at this camp.
Gross Catholic Freshman Six-Week Conditioning Camp - June 20 - July 28 | Boys & Girls Grade 9 | 9:30 am – 1:30 pm
This conditioning camp is for registered, incoming Gross Catholic freshmen boys and girls ONLY. Strength training and conditioning camp will run June 20 - July 28. Athletes will train on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays for six consecutive weeks at ONE of the following time slots: Session A from 9:30 - 10:30 am; Session B from 10:30 - 11:30 am; Session C from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm; Session D from 12:30 - 1:30 pm. Please choose your preferred time slot. Each session is limited to 16 athletes. Camp meets in the weight room.
Game On! - June 25 - 27 | Boys & Girls Grades 5 - 9 | 1:30 – 3:00 pm
Games of every type play an important role in developing fundamental competencies for life. They require players to learn and follow complex sets of rules, make strategic and tactical decisions, and, increasingly, collaborate with teammates and others. The Gross Catholic High School librarian invites students to put down the electronic games and bring a friend or meet someone new for individual and team challenges using classic board games.
Tennis – June 26 - 28 | Boys & Girls Grades 4 - 9 | 9 am - Noon
This camp is designed to help players build the skills needed to prepare for high school tennis. Students will participate in drills and singles and doubles matches with an emphasis on instruction, participation and skill development. Gross Catholic tennis coaches and players will conduct the camp. The location of this camp is at Aspen Park at 53rd & Aspen Drive, Bellevue.
Girls Golf – July 9 - 10 | Grades 7 - 12 | 8:00 am - Noon
Campers will get instruction on swing, putting, chipping, rules and course management. Girls must bring their own clubs. This camp will be held at Eagle Hills Golf Course on Cornhusker Road & 50th Street in Papillion.

Computer Animation - July 23 - 24 | Boys & Girls Grades 6 - 9 | 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
Web cameras and stop-action photos will be used to create animated movies for web pages. Video, sound, and drawing tools will be used to create movie objects and characters. See your ideas come to life. Participants should bring a sack lunch and drink or money for the soda machine. Enrollment is limited
Computer Game Programming - July 25 - 26 | Boys & Girls Grades 6 - 9 | 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
In this camp, student software engineers will design games and share their creations online using the Scratch environment. Students also explore creating games for mobile devices using App Inventor and creating web-based games customized for mobile devices. Expand the stories and skills started in the computer animation camp into computer game programming. Participants should bring a sack lunch and money for the soda machine. Enrollment is limited.
Robotics – July 30 & 31 | Boys & Girls Grades 6 - 9 | 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
The student scientists and engineers will experiment with different types of real and virtual robots to explore design and problem solving. Topics will include geometry, physics, electronics, and robot programming. Participants should bring a sack lunch and drink or money for the soda machine. Enrollment is limited.
