Gross Catholic’s speech team competes in the River Cities Conference. Students study the theory, preparation, and delivery techniques of the forensic categories in oral interpretation, drama, and public speaking. Students compete in tournaments at the Varsity and Novice levels.

Current News
The Gross Catholic Speech Team has continued to grow and improve with the 2009-2010 season, Coach Brian Fuchser's fourth with the program. The team expanded from a membership of 6 speakers a year ago, to a current membership of 12 speakers. Gross Catholic team members earned medals in 10 of the 11 meets the team attended prior to districts on March 3. Senior Anna Shymanski medaled in all 9 of the meets she attended, earning runner-up honors twice and finishing as a River Cities Conference Champion in Informative Speaking. Gross Catholic managed to grab two additional RCC Championships as Senior Annie Pigaga won the honor in Humorous Prose and Senior Becky Rasmussen earned it in Oral Interpretation of Poetry. Sophomore Mark Beischel also earned championship honors this season, winning in Impromptu Speaking at the Logan View Speech Meet.
